| "First Steps" (48x24,acrylic on linen mounted on hardboard ) is one of my personal favorites as well as many other people, and it has a very interesting story. I painted this painting in November 2004. It shows a mother and her son during, quite literally, his 'First Steps'. She's laying on her side being quite amused at his progress, and he's just toddling along, using her as a support, yet he has one arm outstretched for independence. We went to a flea market two years later, and I picked up several older art booklets, surely a supplement to a larger book set or magazine(Art Treasures of the World) , and one was entitled 'On Truth to Nature' by H.W.Janson, 1953. I was flipping through it and on page 18, next to the last page, was this painting, by one of my favorite artists, and one of the most original mankind had ever known-Pablo Picasso-entitled, to my absolute astonishment- "First Steps". I had never seen this painting previously. I remember getting chills because the subject matter was the same, although in a slightly different format, yet the title is exactly the same. Not 'baby's first steps' or 'the first steps' but "First Steps". So I think maybe Picasso is speaking to me somehow! ;) At the time of the publication of the booklet, the painting was in some very lucky persons private collection, as stated in the caption below the photoin the booklet. Today it resides at Yale, and they are very privledged to have it. |

| Unfortunately, my "First Steps" went under water during Katrina, and because it is a painting longer than it is tall, recieved brutal damage and needs quite a bit of TLC. The colors are much much better in real life, this is a rather dark photo that I will have to repost. For photos in current state, please email, serious inquiries only. Make offer.
