The Shop - August 30 2005- the day after |

This is the first thing we saw when we opened the door to the shop. At the bottom right is our coffeemaker that we had just got a couple of weeks prior, still plugged in. The table with casters which was on the opposite wall now lays in the center of the room. The refrigerator used to sit on top of this. Our table is puffed up and broken. The white message board has some of the jobs we were doing at the time of the storm- all of which we are having to remake parts for. The bottom of the board says, 'Coffee is on for in the Morning!' - I had written that months before, but nobody ever erased it. Note the brown mess on the floor. This was very slick and thick and covered everything. Some remains today. |

This was also untouched before the photograph was taken. This is the sheetmetal boss's office. The drafting table weighs quite a bit, and yet it was lifted off the ground and over the top of the chair( you can see the bottom of it stuck under the table). The wastebasket floated to the top of his desk. |

At left is the main office building that sits across from the sheetmetal shop. This was not elevated as much as the shop so the water went all the way to the ceiling. Note the clock stops at approximately 11:30, which was when the storm was going full blast and the water had gotten up that high. The clock in the break room had the same time on it. Note the big heavy desks tossed around like toys, and the paneling buckled. I helped clean this office a few days later, everything was wet and heavy, stuck together, and the stench was unbelievable.
